Local Business Brings Environmentally Friendly Tattoo Supplies to Toronto
It’s no secret that the tattoo industry generates a lot of waste. Artists rely on a variety of single-use items in order to do their job efficiently, and to comply with health and safety standards. Unfortunately, many of these single-use items end up in the trash. But a new Toronto-based company, Good Judy, is disrupting the space with their line of innovative products that are making the tattoo process a whole lot greener.
Good Judy’s mission is to create a sustainable, affordable and high-quality product line, making it easy for tattoo shops and artists to make the switch to eco-friendly supplies. Although green technology is far from perfect, Good Judy focuses on delivering products that have the least amount of environmental impact on our planet. They carefully follow guidelines set out by third party agencies, ensuring that their products are certified compostable and biodegradable, and are manufactured using sustainable products — goodbye petroleum-based plastics.
Good Judy is Good for Tattoo Shops
Yep — we’re using Good Judy here at Yonge Street Tattoos! Our artists can vouch for the quality of the supplies they use, plus we’re all feeling just a little bit better about our environmental impact after a busy day at the shop. Here’s a look at some of the Good Judy products that the YST artists have been using:
Biodegradable nitrile gloves. Available in multiple sizes and colours (yes, including black!), they’re powder free and even have a decreased risk of allergic reaction.
Small and large barrier films. We find it performs even better than regular barrier film thanks to its thicker composition, and it breaks down fully in 9 months or less.
Biodegradable razors. A major contributor to landfill waste, we’re happy to see an eco-friendly version of this single-use item.
Hospital-grade disinfectant. Using pure plant extracts, this powerful disinfectant kills 99.99% of all bacteria - perfect for wiping down surfaces to protect clients and artists.
Compostable ink caps. Available in 2 sizes and made from plant-based plastic alternatives, they’re an easy eco-friendly switch to make.
We’re proud to partner with so many Canadian brands and suppliers here at Yonge Street Tattoos, and Good Judy is certainly one of them. We encourage you to take a look at everything that they have to offer (including eco-friendly PPE equipment that extends beyond use within the tattoo industry), or ask us more about this local company and their product line at your next YST appointment!
